The Short-lived “Hongxian Kiln”(a imperial kiln named after
In 1916, the word “Hongxian” still existed. Yuan Shikai, who tried to restore the monarchy in China after the Qing Dynasty, proclaimed himself emperor with a new reign named “Hongxian”. Following the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yuan Shikai dispatched superintendents to Jingdezhen to supervise the production of imperial porcelain. However, Yuan Shikai was a short-lived emperor, so did the “Hongxian Kiln”.
